Thursday, July 20, 2017
Margaret Murphy-Webb and New Millennium Jazz Orchestra will perform at the fourth of seven summertime concerts in the Grace College & Village at Winona Festival of Music. The free, family-friendly concert will take place on Saturday afternoon, July 29, at the Hillside Amphitheater, located on the hillside of Spring Fountain Park in the Village. In case of rain, the concert will move to the Winona Heritage Room. The concert will commence at 11:30 a.m. with Webb, followed by New Millennium Jazz at 1 p.m.
“What better way to enjoy a Saturday afternoon in Winona Lake?” said Walter Brath, coordinator of the festival. “Margaret Murphy-Webb and New Millennium Jazz will delight an audience of all ages with their beautiful music. Stop by for an hour or the entire show,” he encouraged community members.
Margaret Murphy-Webb has sung professionally throughout the United States and Europe for more than thirty years. She developed her unique vocal style and showmanship under the tutelage of world-renowned tenor saxophonist Von Freeman. At Saturday’s concert, Webb will perform jazz standards made popular by jazz greats including Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, and Billie Holiday.
The New Millennium Jazz Orchestra from Fort Wayne is one of northern Indiana’s premier jazz ensembles. Formed in 1999, the group plays big band jazz from all eras. The upcoming concert will feature selections from Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton, Maynard Ferguson and others.
The second annual Festival of Music is sponsored by Grace College, Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts and The Village at Winona. For more information on all planned events, visit www.grace.edu/musicfestival or contact festival coordinator Walter Brath at email@example.com.
