Grace golfers enjoy best league championship in program history

Grace Women's Golf team

Grace’s women’s golf team produced its finest Crossroads League Championship in team history on Monday and Tuesday.

The Lady Lancers placed fourth at Glendarin Hills Golf Club with a three-round total of 982, and Grace had a pair of top-five finishers.

Lauren Keiser finished third on the individual leaderboard to earn All-Tournament Team recognition. She had 79-83 on Monday after two rounds, and Keiser wrapped up the tournament with a third-round 77 on Tuesday. Her 77 was the second-lowest score of the day.

Sydney Abbott joined Keiser on the All-Tournament Team as she finished fifth with a scorecard of 81-76-84. Only two players in the 41-player field had a lower round than Abbott’s 76 on Monday.

Grace was the only school to have two players on the All-Tournament Team.

Anna Marshall was consistent throughout the tournament, carding 80-86-81. Kristin Holt had a tournament total of 255, highlighted by a third-round 82. Holt needed to overcome a quadruple bogey on hole 10 on Tuesday but showed tremendous resolve as a freshman to card an 82.

Libby Tully rounded out the team’s scoring with a tournament total of 266.

As a team Grace’s combined score of 982 was a program record for three rounds, 82 strokes better than last year’s championship total. The Lady Lancers finished just four strokes out of second place.

“I could not be more pleased with our performance. I told the girls that this effort marks the moment when we became a force the other schools recognized,” said Grace head coach Denny Duncan. “We put together three complete rounds of good at just about as good as we are capable of playing. I could not be happier with our outing.”
