Grace College to Host Grace Engineering Camp

Grace College invites middle school students to its inaugural engineering camp this summer.  The camp, created and led by Chair of the Grace College Engineering Department, Dr. Fred Wentorf, will introduce students to engineering through hands-on application.  Students will design and race dragsters to learn the basics of mechanical engineering.

The day camp is open to students entering sixth through eighth grade.  Grace Engineering Camp will take place on the Grace College campus July 15 – 19 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The cost per student is $350, which includes lunch and engineering supplies. Need-based scholarships are available.

“We’re very excited to offer the first-of-its-kind engineering camp to local students this summer,” said Wentorf.  “The camp is designed to spark students’ interest in STEM — and engineering specifically — through fun, hands-on learning with CO2 drag racing.”

Campers will create their own dragster using computer-aided design (CAD) and test their design through racing in and out of a wind tunnel.  They will gain exposure to CAD, 3D printing, and aerodynamics throughout the week.

Grace Engineering Camp is made possible in part by Zimmer Biomet and other generous partners.  Space is limited; prompt registration is encouraged.  To register, visit  For more information, please contact Dr. Fred Wentorf at [, 574-372-5100 x 6240]
